My wife and I are looking at purchasing a home in the area, and was wondering if providers (i.e. qwest) are allowed in the area? In reading through some of the posts, it appears that they aren't, but I wanted to verify. Also, can anyone provide me with more information around the HOA? As I understand it there is a $50 - $55 fee that is standard, and then you can opt into the Broadweave service for and additional $70/month or so. Any info you can provide would help a lot.

It sounds like you've pretty much got the right idea. There are $50/month HOA dues. Broadweave is the only Internet/Phone provider in the area. They plan to add video soon, and the recent iProvo buyout may facilitate that (just speculation, honestly I don't know what their timeline is for that). The price for their basic Internet/Phone service comes out to about $70/month after taxes, fees, etc.

There are definitely various opinions on whether these things are benefits or deterrents to living at Traverse Mountain. The HOA fees may seem excessive given the lack of typical HOA amenities. However, it isn't a total loss. The area is for the most part very well kept up (entrance, landscaping, etc) and stands out in that respect from other nearby communities.

As far as Broadweave services, people generally seem pleased with their Internet and phone service and feel that their pricing is competitive. The only frustrations that I'm aware with them are their lack of video service, and the requirement to purchase all services that are available. If you want more tv channels than the free off-air ones from an antenna, then plan on Dish or DirecTV satellite service up here.

I pay about $86.77 for internet and phone services. If I had my choice I would not have a land line but we are all required to pay for phone service even if we use it or not. The total monthly dues including the internet, phone service and HOA requirement is $136.77 for me. We did have quite a jump in HOA fees. We use to pay only $37.00 about a couple of years now we are up to $50.00 and will most likely go up.
That is fine but many residents do not feel that we are getting a lot for what we pay and the fees will go up.
The community is probably the most diversified community in Utah valley.

From what I understand once we have video here you can have your own service provider but will still be required to pay broadweve for basic service.

Hope this helps.
