Traverse Mountain:: Broadweave VS Other net work provider
Actually, that's not really true. Mountain Home Development owns most of the fiber and infrastructure. This means the developer could let whomever they choose provide services on their network. They've just chosen to stick with Broadweave thus far.

So csipos, until they decide to allow multiple service providers on the network, I think your stuck with Broadweave. Not the most ideal of circumstances, but now that they've been bought out by Veracity things are looking a little better at least.

Lehi bid for Google Fiber [by Roger]

Broadweave/Veracity Networks:: Lehi bid for Google Fiber
It looks like Lehi city is going after the Google fiber project. (http://www.deseretnews.com/article/70 ... tch-for-Google-Fiber.html) I think there will be several hundred, if not more, cities applying for this, but it's not a bad idea for Lehi to go after it.

I do like the fact that Lehi sees itself as a "high-tech capital" of Utah. I don't think they're nearly there yet, but I'm glad they want to be there. If they do manage to capture Google's interest on this, it would be interesting to see how it plays out up here. TM is about the only area in Lehi where Lehi city doesn't own any conduit for telecom.

My parents have an Amino box with the DVR. I checked yesterday when I was there and it is a newer one than they had in the past. The picture did seem better too and my dad said it doesn't pixelate as much now.

Traverse Mountain:: IM Flash Technologies
It looks like IM Flash is looking to de-annex from Draper and make all of it's land part of Lehi. I'm not sure what it means as far as their future plans, but could mean for additional expansion of that plant.

http://heraldextra.com/news/local/nor ... 61-899b-d67aa80107ce.html

Traverse Mountain:: Cresthaven Townhomes
Cresthaven is the first area you pass on the left as you are coming up Traverse Mountain Boulevard after turn left at the Sales Center. This area has gone back and forth between being a condos and single family residences. The last plan for it that I saw was for single family residences to be built by Epic Homebuilders, but they weren't able to sell any homes, and I believe the property was foreclosed on. If they're changing the plan again, it's likely that they've got a buyer lined up.

MATG at Thanksgiving Point [by Roger]

Traverse Mountain:: MATG at Thanksgiving Point
I saw a new structure going up at Thanksgiving Point and was hopeful that the new Children's Museum was going up. I drove by to see what it was, but instead it looks like it is the site for a new campus for the Mountainland Applied Technology Center, which is a local trade school. I'm less excited for this, than for a new museum, but it will be a good benefit to Lehi city and the Thanksgiving Point area.

I found a news article about it here (http://www.heraldextra.com/news/local ... d7-90f9-116c0f75b4eb.html). It looks like this campus will be offering only medical related training. It is located just south of Electric Park at Thanksgiving Point.
Re: Anyone tried DIGIS service [by Roger]

Broadweave/Veracity Networks:: Anyone tried DIGIS service
In general, I've heard that DIGIS works great for light users (email and web browsing), but has stringent bandwidth caps for heavy users (meaning you either pay a lot more, or get shut off if you actually use it a lot). The difference is that each individual home up here has capacity that is greater than a Digis tower that provides service to hundreds of users. Their model works great, and is very cheap, as long as users are only emailing and browsing the web. Unfortunately for them, I believe their model will be collapsing as users demand more access to high bandwidth Internet services.

Personally, a Digis connection would never be enough bandwidth for me. Between using several Slingboxes, using remote access to servers, hulu, IP surveillance, home automation, etc, I use way more bandwidth than a Digis connection allows. However, I recognize that I'm a geek and use far more Internet bandwidth than the typical user. For a user like me, fiber is the only way to go, and was a big part of my decision to move here. As much as I harass Broadweave about the services up here, for the amount of bandwidth we get and prices we pay, it's really not too bad. Even if you don't use the phone service, which I don't, ~$70 isn't bad for a fiber connection. My biggest gripe is that it isn't an open-access fiber network, which is what I do for a living (UTOPIA), so I'm a little biased.
